is it balearic return with an absolutely superb ep from new signings saint petersburg disco spin spdsc are a collective of live musicians and djs from russia this is their debut release for iib, but a handful of tracks on labels like glenview & teardrop have made serious waves - skillfully combining live disco musicianship with the dj sensibilities which shape their sound. from club friendly and hooky dancefloor tracks to blissfully executed downtempo jams. all pulled off with a loose but pin sharp production style that really makes them stand out i never leave you leads on the a side, a steadily assembled sunset workout, with brass elements defining the groove. marwencol manages to deftly pull off a balearic wu-tang move, whil love spin is a beautifully lolloping beach bar jam, which comes complete with a very dubbed-out dub version too.

freakadelle, the vinyl and digital record label of salzburgs cultural association freaksound starts with four extended tracks and one remix of gerald peklars album freiflug, which has been released on lamb lane records in january 2013. the uncut vinyl versions of the tracks all have a melodic and spherical touch in common and stand somewhere in between tech-house and techno. in addition, juergen vonbank delivers a moody deep house remix of the track abflug. gerald peklar is founder and head of the non-commercial electronic music club freaksound, which serves to foster the local scene and especially young musicians. freakadelle embodies the club members subcultural understanding of innovative non-commercial club music.

few people stand for a real underground approach to techno like adam x does. for over 20 years he has been right in the center of the scene. before moving to berlin he ran the sonic groove record shop in nyc for 15 years. the sonic groove label also owned by adam is still a dominating force in the scene and has released music of legends like abe duque, blake baxter, frankie bones, kevin saunderson and many more. with djing, producing music adam in recent years has received a lot of support from people like chris liebing and many others for his productions as adam x as well as for his aliases traversable wormhole, admx-71.adam’s sound is dark and heavily influenced by his passion for industrial and old school ebm music. with coercive persuasion on the a-side he combines these influences with a functionality that can only derive from his extensive touring as a dj and live act. it is a dark anthem that will destroy all real techno floors. no doubt. the b-side deprogramming sequence comes along with driving bells that give the stomping beat of the track a little uplift and therewith balances out the heavy dark side of the ep.

the latest emotional response release provides something very special indeed, in the form of a new track from under the radar psychedelic rock musician nick nicely. nicely has been making music from the 70s onwards, but his music has recently undergone something of a critical reappraisal, with the likes of robert wyatt and robyn hitchcock supposedly inspired by his work, wrottersley road provides the ideal entry into his music, a masterful piece of shoegaze pop filled with fuzzed out guitars and eastern psychedelic tones. remixes are provided by invisible hands, who provide a minimal 80s inspired electro-pop version, which comes saturated in radiophonic textures, and the oscillation, who take the track into even more abstract ambient territory than the original, deep into a place where time seems to stand still entirely, drawing its rich textures out into infinity.
